Some people have their true North. I have my true West. To guide me to openness, to wildness, to freedom. To the place where I can see horizons of possibility all around me. Where I see my own potential in Nature's beautiful, breathtaking infinity.....
Rare and beautiful Santa Rita turquoise is the focal point of this ring. Such a unique and striking cut, and the beauty of this stone is entrancing - it glows! This mine is now closed and Santa Rita turquoise is considered extremely rare.
The band, too, is beauty. This ring was created by my incredibly talented neighbor, Fred, a silversmith working in traditional Navajo technique. No pre-fab components, this piece was built entirely by Fred from an ingot of silver. First, the sterling lump is rolled into long, graceful strands of varying thickness in an antique hand-crank press (like making pasta by hand, but with metal!). Then, they are twisted, hammered, and soldered together. A work of true craftsmanship, using nothing but anvil, press, hammer, and imagination.
A small piece of art to wear upon your finger, to instantly elevate jeans or a sundress or your bare skin in skivvies. To remind you of your true West.
